Chevrolet · Model Year 2027 · Debut: Sebring, March 2026
Two cars. One storied name. A next-generation naturally aspirated V8 that produces more torque than any other NA V8 before it — and an electrified all-wheel-drive variant that takes it somewhere entirely new.
Overview
Chevrolet is reviving one of Corvette's most storied racing names with the 2027 Corvette Grand Sport, and creating new legacy with the Grand Sport X. Born in the early 1960s as a limited run of five C2 race cars that competed at tracks like Sebring International Raceway, Grand Sport has long stood for lightweight, track-focused Corvettes that look as fast as they drive. The 2027 lineup brings that DNA into the mid-engine era — with two distinct expressions of the same relentless philosophy.
Powertrain
Launching General Motors' sixth generation of Small Block V8s, the new LS6 is the heart of both Grand Sport models — and the 2027 Stingray. A larger 6.7-liter displacement, 13.0:1 compression ratio, tunnel-ram intake, and 95-mm throttle body combine with forged pistons and rods and a high-capacity lubrication system to unlock power and durability that redefine what a naturally aspirated V8 can do. Assembly returns to GM's Flint Engine Operations in Michigan — the same city that built the first Corvette V8 in 1955.
Naturally aspirated. No turbos. No supercharger. Just 409 cubic inches of displacement, modern fuel delivery, and 70-plus years of Small Block evolution.
The Purist
The Grand Sport is engineered for the driver who wants maximum connection — rear-wheel drive, naturally aspirated, tuned for feel. It's the sweet spot in the Corvette lineup: visceral V8 character, everyday drivability, and the option to chase lap times when the weekend demands it. Magnetic Ride Control is standard, and an available quad center-exit exhaust — the first center exhaust on a pushrod V8 in the C8 generation — announces every throttle input with authority.
Grand Sport's chassis package lineup lets buyers choose their level of commitment — from continent-crossing grand tourer to serious track weapon.
Standard Touring
Magnetic Ride Control; Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 tires; low-dust, corrosion-resistant brake system. The everyday weapon.
Z52 Sport Performance Package
Stiffer suspension tuning; high-performance J56 iron brakes borrowed from the Z06; Michelin Pilot Sport 4S summer tires. Available carbon aero package and carbon-ceramic brakes.
Z52 Track Performance Package
Carbon-ceramic J57 brakes; Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R tires; quad center-exit exhaust; full carbon fiber aero package with high wing, dive planes, rockers, splitter, and underbody strakes. The most track-capable Grand Sport ever built.
The eAWD Performer
Grand Sport X expands the Grand Sport formula with a front-axle electric motor and compact 1.9 kWh battery pack — the same eAWD system proven in the record-setting ZR1X — to create a 721-horsepower all-weather, all-conditions performer. Standard carbon-ceramic brakes and Magnetic Ride Control ensure the extra output is matched by the stopping and cornering to use it. The high-voltage battery sits low and centered to preserve the agility of the mid-engine platform.
The front electric drive unit provides near-instant torque to the front axle, combining the corner-exiting traction of AWD with the rear-wheel-drive feel Corvette drivers expect. An intelligent controls system manages power distribution seamlessly — or lets the driver take full control.
Like ZR1X, Grand Sport X puts the driver in charge of how the battery's stored energy is deployed on track and on the road.
Stealth and Shuttle modes allow silent electric-only movement — ideal for paddock transit or quiet neighborhoods — without engaging the V8.
"Grand Sport has always been the Corvette for drivers who want the spirit of a race car in a package they can enjoy every day. With the new Grand Sport and Grand Sport X, we've taken that formula into the mid-engine era."Scott Bell · VP, Global Chevrolet
Design & Heritage
The original C2 Grand Sports were purpose-built race cars, and the bold liveries and stripes they wore still influence today's design. Signature Grand Sport hash marks — historically seen on the front fenders of C4, C6, and C7 models — now move to the rear for the first time, nodding to the V8's position behind the cockpit in the mid-engine C8. Admiral Blue Metallic, revived from the C4 era, enables the iconic blue body, white center stripe, and red hash mark appearance. New for 2027: Pitch Gray Metallic joins the palette across all Corvette models.
An exclusive package curated to feel like a one-of-one option for each owner. Nearly every surface is finished in Santorini Blue with red stitching and accents. Headrests are embossed with a unique Grand Sport exterior plan view outline. A special waterfall speaker plaque and Grand Sport steering wheel badge complete the package — available only on inaugural 2027 models.
